FLORENCE, AL – Every student in the Fall 2025 cohort from the Anderson College of Nursing and Health Professions Bachelor of Science in Nursing program has completed their rigorous national licensure examination with an unprecedented 100 percent first-time pass rate.
Known as the NCLEX, which is an acronym for National Council Licensure Examination, the test evaluates entry-level safety and clinical judgement. Candidates answer 85 to 145 questions, with the exam ending when competence is determined or the five-hour time limit expires. Passing the NCLEX is a requirement to enter into professional practice.
“Cohorts typically average between 93 percent and 97 percent in their pass rates, but this marks the first time in our program’s history, based on all available records, that an entire traditional pre-licensure cohort has achieved a 100 percent first-attempt pass rate,” said Dr. Tera Kirkman, Dean of the ACONHP. “I am incredibly proud of our students. They work tirelessly to complete one of the most rigorous programs and to become truly practice-ready. Their success is also a reflection of the outstanding commitment of our faculty and staff and of the exceptional leadership of Dr. Amy Seay.”
Dr. Seay provides oversight for the undergraduate nursing program and its curriculum. In this role, she supports and guides faculty as they implement innovative teaching strategies and mentor students throughout the program, preparing graduates for success on the NCLEX licensure examination and in professional practice.
“We are incredibly proud of our students and faculty for achieving a 100 percent first-time pass rate,” she said. “This accomplishment reflects the dedication of our students and the unwavering commitment of our faculty to prepare graduates who are ready to provide high-quality, compassionate care to the community.”
This achievement reflects ACONHP’s continued commitment to preparing highly skilled, practice-ready nurses who are equipped to service their communities and to meet the ever-evolving needs of healthcare.
