Michelle Eubanks, UNA, at meubanks@una.edu, 256-606-2033 or 256-765-4392 FLORENCE, AL - The Political Science bachelor's degree on the University of North Alabama campus has been ranked 10th among the most affordable political science programs at four-year colleges and universities in the United States. The ranking was released by Bachelor's Degree Center, a free guide to traditional and online bachelor's degree programs in all disciplines. "The Political Science program at UNA is an exemplary example of the broad scope of our educational programs with varied learning modalities, many opportunities for experiential learning, and unique faculty experiences that bring many perspectives to the classroom," said Dr. Sara Lynn Baird, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. "Our political science students are prepared for diverse career possibilities with a wide array of courses from which they can choose to design their curriculum. In addition our faculty have outstanding credentials and include our President (Dr. Ken Kitts) and Provost (Dr. Ross Alexander) who teach regularly in the department." Dr. Alex Aguado is among the faculty in the Department of Politics, Justice, Law and Philosophy. "UNA Political Science students learn to be analytical, well-versed in theory, diplomacy, and policy," he said. They also are "empirically-minded and are familiar with the processes taken in the collection of evidence and its analysis." The ranking comes as many colleges and universities continue to adapt to the evolving landscape of learning as a result of the ongoing global pandemic. Dr. Amber Paulk, Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and Dean of Graduate and Online Education, said this climate makes UNA's ranking that much more significant. "The affordability of our online programs is a particular point of pride at UNA," she said. "Our price point increases access to higher education for students who might not otherwise be able to pursue their degrees due to the high cost of attendance at other institutions. UNA is a leader in the region, and nationally, at offering high-quality, flexible online degree programs at a prices that makes them accessible."
