By Elise Cofield, Student Writer FLORENCE, Ala. -The University of North Alabama music faculty will present their second annual Faculty Grand Recital at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, in Norton Auditorium. The recital is a two-year running tradition put in place as a way to raise money for student music scholarships. Admission is $5 for students with student ID and $15 for adults. All proceeds from the recital benefit UNA music scholarships. Additional donations will be accepted. The recital will feature Terrance Brown, baritone; Tiffany Bostic-Brown, soprano; Yi-Min Cai, piano; Eddie Elsey, Jr., euphonium; Yasmin Flores, clarinet; and Iain Moyer, percussion. "The idea is that faculty join together with one goal in mind: that is, to put on an entertaining show that raises funds to go straight into music scholarships," said Dr. David McCullough, chair of the UNA Department of Music and Theatre. Last year, faculty raised about $1,000 for the 2012-13 academic year, McCullough added. "We can never have enough music scholarship money," he said. "The need is quite great, and we try to raise all the money we can to award to students who have demonstrated that they can excel in music studies." Faculty from the music department distributes scholarships based on strength of student audition. McCullough expects that more than 50 incoming freshmen and transfer students will have auditioned for music scholarships by the end of this semester.
