Una Announces Operations Update Regarding Covid-19

Michelle Eubanks, UNA, at meubanks@una.edu, 256-606-2033 or 256-765-4392 FLORENCE, AL - The University of North Alabama is responding to protocols and guidelines suggested by the Alabama Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regarding operations for the campus for the next several weeks in our ongoing efforts to ensure the overall safety and well-being of the campus and surrounding community. Immediately: All international travel for the campus community is suspended for the remainder of the spring semester. All non-essential domestic travel is suspended immediately. Essential domestic travel will be approved on a case-by-case basis. The week of March 15-21 All campus events and gatherings of 100 or more individuals will be suspended. The Light the Fountain event will be postponed until the fall semester. All classes will proceed as scheduled. Spring Break is scheduled for March 22-28. The week of March 29-April 4 During the week of March 29 through April 4, the University of North Alabama will re-open and is modifying the delivery of instruction for students. During this time, face-to-face courses will transition to a remote environment via Canvas or video conference technology, such as Zoom. Certain exceptions will be considered for clinical instruction, simulation experiences, and student internships based on the approval of the dean and provost. All students are encouraged to remain off campus during this remote course delivery phase. University operations will follow a consistent schedule of normal business hours for faculty and staff. University officials will continue to monitor the situation and evaluate next steps. This schedule is subject to additional modification based on federal and state directives and as the situation evolves.
