Una Women's Soccer Team Gets First National Ranking

FLORENCE -- Off to the best start in school history and sporting a perfect 5-0 record, the University of North Alabama women's soccer team earned its first national ranking in school history Tuesday when the Lions were picked as the No. 18 team in the NCAA Division II by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
North Alabama has opened the season with wins over Montevallo, Limestone, Georgia Southwestern, 22nd ranked Lynn and Eckerd. In those five matches the Lions have outscored their opponents 24-0 and have a current sreak of 450 consecutive shutout minutes. Seattle-Pacific is ranked No. 1 nationally, followed by Gulf South Conference member West Florida at No. 2. UNA is the only other GSC school in the national poll. The Lions are also ranked third in the South Region behind West Florida and Rollins. UNA's next contest is Friday, Sept. 11 at Newberry College.
