FLORENCE, AL – The band program at the University of North Alabama has received a resolution from the Alabama State Senate recognizing its 75th anniversary. The UNA Band also received a commendation from Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey recognizing the anniversary.

“We are grateful to Dr. Larry Stutts who arranged for us to receive these two pieces of official recognition,” said Dr. Lloyd Jones, the Director of UNA Bands. “We are thrilled to have this official acknowledgement for the hard work and dedication of the students to the program throughout the decades.”

Stutts is the Republican state senator for Alabama’s 6th district, which includes Colbert, Franklin, Lauderdale, Lawrence, and Marion counties.

In addition to this recent recognition, the UNA Band has been invited to participate in the 2025 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. As part of that opportunity, the band has created holiday ornaments they are selling to fund their travel to New York City.
