University Of North Alabama College Of Arts And Sciences Teams Up With Flpl And Listerhill For Reader Riot

Bryan Rachal,University Communications FLORENCE, Ala. -The University of North Alabama College of Arts and Sciences is teaming up with local entities for the Reader Riot Book Festival, April 28-29, 2017. As part of the festival, the College of Arts and Sciences will bring in famed author R.L Stine. Stine is the bestselling author of multiple series of books, including Fear Street, Mostly Ghostly, The Nightmare Room, and most notably Goosebumps, and its skin-crawling spinoffs. His work has been adapted into multiple television series (Goosebumps, The Nightmare Room, The Haunting Hour, among others) and a feature-length Goosebumps motion picture starring Jack Black. The event for Stine will take place at Norton Auditorium on campus, Saturday, April 29, at 6 p.m. Stine will also host a book signing following the event. The second wave of tickets for R.L. Stine will be available April 4 at 12:30 p.m. Organizers said 800 tickets reserved within a day of the first announcement. Tickets can be purchased at: http://rlstine.eventbrite.com In addition to Stine, the College of Arts and Sciences Sunseri Speaker Series will host science fiction author, Tobias Bucknell. Buckell will speak on his novel Arctic Rising,among others, during an author talk and signing. The event will take place at the Shoals Theatre from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Called ''Violent, poetic and compulsively readable" by Maclean's, science fiction author Tobias S. Buckell is a New York Times Bestselling writer born in the Caribbean. He grew up in Grenada and spent time in the British and U.S. Virgin Islands, which have a strong influence on his work. His latest novel is Hurricane Fever, a follow up to the successful Arctic Rising that NPR says will "give you the shivers."
