FLORENCE, Ala.- The University of North Alabama Department of Music and Theater will host an open house at the newly constructed George S. Lindsey Theater April 20 from 2 to 4 p.m. for all students, faculty, staff and community members. Officials celebrated a ribbon cutting with actors George Lindsey and Ernest Borgnine March 2 in conjunction with the George Lindsey UNA Film Festival. The April 20 open house will provide an opportunity for any interested person to tour the new facilities and interact with others within UNA's theater community. Officials broke ground on the new George S. Lindsey Theater in March 2011. The theater is located on the back of Norton Auditorium, where it shares the Norton scene shop. Unlike Norton Auditorium, the new black box theater is designed specifically for professional theatrical use. It offers a transformative stage and allows for a unique, intimate setting with audiences. For more information, contact UNA's Department of Music and Theater at 256-765-5122.
