The Mane Room Music Festival, set for April 22-24 in the Mane Room, is a three-night music event featuring a songwriting competition, battle of the bands, and a Muscle Shoals song review. The festival is a collaboration between the Department of Entertainment Industry within the School of the Arts at the University of North Alabama, along with MEISA and Phi Mu Alpha, both Registered Student Organizations.
Nominations for University of North Alabama Homecoming Awards have opened and will remain so until June 10; the date for this year’s festivities has been set for Oct. 17-18, and the Homecoming theme is Purple Reign: A Dynasty of Champions.
Dr. Meghan Merciers, Associate Dean of the University of North Alabama School of the Arts in the College of Arts, Sciences and Engineering, has released her second studio album. The recording is also the first publication of Merciers’ research on the works of Jewish-American composer Dr. Peter Temko through Onyx Lane Records and distributed by Naxos, made possible in part by funding earned from the George Merida Huckaba Endowed Professorship in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Engineer in 2023.
The fourth UNAfied dinner, a showcase of the creative culinary skills of the students and faculty in the Jeff Eubanks Culinary Arts Management program at the University of North Alabama, is scheduled for Thursday, April 10 at the Renaissance Shoals Conference Center.
Kilby Laboratory School, on the University of North Alabama campus, had a top finish at the Alabama VEX IQ Championship, competing against 52 of the best teams from across the state. Sonceria Ann Berry, who graduated from the University of North Alabama in 1978, has been confirmed by the Alabama Senate to fill the Board of Trustees seat currently held by Dr. Wendell Gunn, who did not desire to seek reappointment. The final confirmation took place in Montgomery on Thursday morning, and Berry’s six-year term will begin in July.

The Tiny Cubs Boutique, in collaboration with Women of Influence, has launched this semester as a way to support University of North Alabama students who are expecting a baby by providing them with access to maternity clothing.
The University of North Alabama French Film Festival, in its eighth year, will begin March 3 with the 2024 release of Auction and conclude March 19 with 2022’s The Night of the 12th. The festival includes a total of six screenings, and admission is free to UNA faculty, staff, students, and members of the community.
