FLORENCE, Ala. - The University of North Alabama Department of English will host alumnus Robert Scogin ('60) for the Albert S. Johnston, Jr. Memorial Shakespeare Lecture, Thursday, Oct. 22, at 6 p.m., in Wesleyan Hall Auditorium.
Scogin, the Artistic Director of Shaw Chicago Theatre, will speak about how he learned to think like an Elizabethan and understand Shakespeare's world view, which led to a successful international career as a Shakespearean actor and director.
During his time at UNA, Scogin was the student of Albert Johnston, longtime Shakespeare professor at UNA and chair of the Department of English. The Albert S. Johnston, Jr. Endowment honors his memory by offering professional Shakespeare productions at UNA as well as other educational opportunities promoting Shakespeare.
This even is made possible through the generosity of the Albert S. Johnston, Jr. Endowment and is free and open to the public.
