Celebrity List Grows For Una Sportsman's Club Celebrity Classic

FLORENCE, Ala. - A variety of famous entertainment and sports personalities have signed on to join the Bowden family for a round of golf since the University of North Alabama announced its May 3 UNA Sportsman's Club Celebrity Golf Classic last week. Each of the teams playing in the scramble will be joined by one of the celebrity players. To date, the celebrities scheduled to appear include: Walt Aldridge, one of Billboard Magazine's top 10 country songwriters Gary Baker, Grammy Award-winning songwriter Bobby Bowden, former Florida State University head football coach Tommy Bowden, former head football coach for Tulane and Clemson universities T.K. Kimbrell, manager for Mac McAnally and Toby Keith Mac McAnally, Grammy Award-winning songwriter, singer and producer Ron McKinnon, former Arizona Cardinal, New Orleans Saint and NFL All-Pro player Evan Oglesby of the Miami Dolphins Wimp Sanderson, former University of Alabama head basketball coach David Weather of the Milwaukee Brewers The UNA Sportsman's Club Celebrity Golf Classic will be hosted at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at The Shoals. Shotgun start is at 8 a.m., with lunch at 1 p.m. A pairing party will be held at 6 p.m. May 2 at Rogers Hall on the UNA campus. Teams may play for $1,000 and individuals for $250. The tournament is limited to 48 teams. Three sponsorships are available: title and partner sponsors, hole sponsors and tee sponsors. The $5,000 title and partner sponsorship includes one four-person team, six invitations to the pairing party, selection of a celebrity playing partner, sponsorship acknowledgment on the UNA Web site and scramble promotional signage. Hole and tee sponsorships, each $150, include promotional signage at the respective hole or tee. Sponsorship and entry fees will be applied toward a Sportsman's Club membership. The event benefits the UNA athletic program through the Sportsman's Club. Deadline for all sponsorships and registration is April 26.
