UNA Horn Studio to Perform at Regional Conference

FLORENCE, AL – The University of North Alabama Horn Studio has been accepted by application to perform at the Mid-South Horn Workshop at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Ark., March 27-29.

“This marks the first time in UNA Horn Ensemble history that we have been featured on a stage as prominent as this one,” said Dr. Jordan Redd, Assistant Chair of the Department of Music and Assistant Professor of Music. “In that way, our acceptance into this workshop is a significant milestone for the horn studio.”

The students participating in the workshop are Connell Cornelius, Skylar McChristian, John Harrington, William Cochran, Josh Prestenberg, Shelby Mitchell, Mallory Taylor, Jackie Self, and Emmaline Tyree.

The Horn Ensemble will perform two selections, Canticle and Flourish by James Naigus. Several students will compete in competitions, including mock auditions and solo competitions. The students received grants to fund transportation to and from the conference.
