FLORENCE, AL – The Phi Alpha Social Work Honor Society’s University of North Alabama chapter will have a Suicide Prevention Campus Walk on Sunday at 2 p.m. The “Out of the Darkness” event is taking place in conjunction with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention at the Bill Jones Athletic Complex.
“Our goal is to raise awareness regarding suicide prevention as well as mental health services that are available to those in need,” said Kimberly Wright, a Lecturer in the Department of Social Work at UNA. “I am most excited to see the campus and community come together to support a common cause. Mental illness is something that does not discriminate. Many in our community are struggling and we want them to know that we care and that there are resources that can help them.”
Registration will begin at 1 p.m. at the athletic complex or can be completed in advance at this link.
