"We are helping to build up the Shoals Dream Center's supply of canned foods and breakfast items," said Shequanda Jenkins, UNA Police Officer and event coordinator. "We saw a need, and we hope that we can help fill that need as we move into the holiday season." Canned fruits and vegetables, along with breakfast cereals, oatmeal, and jellies, are requested. Collection boxes will be placed at the UNA Police Station; Lauderdale County Sheriff's Office and the Lauderdale County Courthouse front entrance; Muscle Shoals, Sheffield, and Killen police departments; all locations of Florence Federal Credit Union, Florence Boulevard location of the Hampton Inn; Residence Inn; Holiday Inn Express; Ollie's Bargain Outlet; and the Killen Foodland. All collection boxes will be emptied each Friday. All donations are welcome, and monetary donations may be made to the Shoals Dream Center. "We are more than happy to participate in an endeavor like this," said Bryan Hammond, Chief of the Killen Police Department. "I believe it's for a good cause, and we're all about that." The Shoals Dream Center provides services and groceries to families in and around the Shoals that are in need of assistance. The Center has also been serving many of those who have been adversely affected by the ongoing global pandemic. The food drive will run through Dec. 4.
