FLORENCE, Ala. - According to William Shakespeare, "A rose by any other name would smell just as sweet." And when it comes to the new name of the University of North Alabama College of Nursing, students and the public can still expect UNA to produce amazing nurses as it has since 1973.

However, those students will now have a new name on their diploma, the Anderson College of Nursing.

The new name for the college was made possible after the Anderson family of Florence, Alabama, announced that they would be giving UNA $3 million as part of the "Build the Pride" comprehensive campaign.

Dr. Deborah Shaw, vice president for University Advancement said the name change to the Anderson College of Nursing had to go through various approvals, but that process is finally complete.

"We're so excited about what the future holds for the Anderson College of Nursing," said Shaw. "And we'd like to extend our most heartfelt thanks to the Anderson family for their commitment to UNA and to nursing. The new Anderson College of Nursing will continue to provide the Shoals and the country with top notch healthcare professionals," she said.
