Film Festival Announces 2011 Screenings

FLORENCE, Ala. - Organizers of the George Lindsey UNA Film Festival have announced 30 films and 20 screenplays that will be featured at the 2011 festival, which will take place March 3-5. The films, which are selected from submissions across the world,will compete for awards in each of nine categories.

Winners will be announced at the festival awards show and will receive cash and other awards. The best film shot in Alabama will receive $2,000 cash and the Sweet Home Alabama award, which is sponsored by the family of Clyde "Sappo" Black. The 14th annual George Lindsey UNA Film Festival was founded in 1998 in part by UNA alumnus and actor George Lindsey, who is best known for his role as Goober Pyle on "The Andy Griffith Show."
