Mental and Emotional Health Benefits

As the University endeavors to support a campus community that is engaged in health and well-being, we realize the important role that mental and emotional health play in that overall effort.  Employees have two options for mental health provider networks through the Blue Cross Blue Shield group health coverage:  (1) the EPS network and (2) Blue Choice Behavioral Health Network.  Providers in the EPS network provide mental health and counseling services with no copay or deductible and are primarily located in Alabama.  Blue Choice providers are located nationwide, and their services are subject to the cost-sharing per services rendered, whether it is an office visit, outpatient, or inpatient.  For additional details and for assistance in locating a provider, please refer to the brochures linked above for search parameters using the BCBSAL website, or by calling Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama at 1-800-292-8868.

In addition to the benefits offered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield mentioned above, our life and long-term disability provider, Symetra, also offers an Employee Assistance Program.  You may also contact the Office of Human Resources for assistance at any time.
