Application
- UNA has two intakes each year- the Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall semester begins in August and the Spring semester begins in January.
- The Summer semester (June-July) is only available for Academic English Program applicants (ESL).
- Fall: June 1

- Summer: April 1 (ESL only)
Please note that the online application form and all supplemental materials must be submitted by these dates in order for your application to be considered.
Application fee waivers are not available at this time and all students must pay the $100 application fee for their application to be considered.
Yes, any application materials that are not in English need to have an English translation in addition to the original copy.
Applicants must submit an approved English proficiency test with their application. Acceptable tests include:
- CBT = 173
- TOEFL iBT = 61
- IELTS = 5.5
- TOEIC = 600
- PTE = 46
- Duolingo = 90
English proficiency is waived for the following countries:

The UNA International Admissions team initially evaluates all applications. External evaluations are not required for all students but are sometimes required on a case-by-case basis. The International Admissions team will notify you via email if an evaluation is needed. Accepted evaluation services include:
Yes, UNA has an on-campus ESL program called the “Academic English Program”. To apply for conditional admission, students must submit two applications: one for the ESL program and one for their intended undergraduate or graduate program. A list of available academic programs is found here.
Funding
- UNA does not offer any fully-funded scholarships. However, multiple scholarships are available for international students. Students will be considered for all available scholarships when they apply. There is no separate application or essay for scholarships.

Yes, UNA offers multiple graduate assistantships each year. GA positions are competitive and will be posted on LionJobs (UNA’s website for all on-campus jobs). Students can apply for GA positions after arriving to campus.
