Online Course Evaluations

Step 1- Become Familiar with System

  • Read the IASystem Guidebook 
  • Faculty can access IASystem Faculty Portal by going to una.iasystem.org/faculty
    • Within the faculty portal, you will be able to access your response rates, review your evaluation questions prior to the evaluation open date, and access your evaluation reports.  

Step 2- Evaluation Opens for Students

  • On the day that evaluations open, faculty will receive an email per course of instruction that states evaluations are now open.  The email will include:
    • Link to Faculty Portal
    • Instructions for reviewing response rates
    • Close date for evaluations
  • On the day that evaluations open, students receive an email per course enrolled stating evaluations are open, the close date for evaluations, and the link to complete the evaluation. 
    • Students will log in via UNA credentials to complete the evaluation
  • Students also have the ability to access their course evaluation via Canvas by clicking on the "Course Evaluation" tab located in the left navigational bar underneath the course view in Canvas.  
  • Typically the open window for course evaluations is 3-5 days. 
    • If a student does not complete the evaluation in one sitting, they can log back in and complete the evaluation prior to the close date.

Step 3- Encourage Participation

  • Faculty are encouraged to use class time to prompt students to fill out course evaluations.  This can be done by encouraging them to use their smart phones/tablets/computers to log into the evaluation and complete during 5-10 minutes of class time set aside for course evaluations
  • Faculty are encouraged to send email correspondence to students stating course evaluations are open
  • Faculty are encouraged to use Canvas to prompt students to complete evaluations
  • Faculty are encouraged to send reminder emails during the course evaluation open window

Step 4- System Reminders, Closing, and Results

  • System reminders will be automatically sent to students if they have not completed the evaluation
  • System reminders will be automatically sent to students if they have started the evaluation but have not completed it
  • After the close date, faculty will have the ability to login and see response rates immediately
  • Reports will be viewable after grades are posted via the faculty course evaluation portal

Step 4-Data 

  • Department Chairs and Administrative Assistants may log in to the IASystem and review results after grades are posted by navigating to una.iasystem.org.
  • Please use your UNA credentials to access the portal.
  • Instructions for interpreting reports can be found by clicking on "Help" within the course evaluation portal.
