Why Women's Studies?

Snapshot

Women's studies places women and their diverse experiences at the center of inquiry. Students are encouraged to examine and critique women's experiences and assumptions about their life. As a multi-disciplinary minor, such inquiry and critique are provided through courses offered in various academic fields of study.

In women's studies classes, students are provided the opportunity to consider the intersectionality of gender, race, class, culture, sexuality and various other social inequities. Students also have the opportunity to explore feminist theory and social justice and celebrate the achievements and contributions of women worldwide and in all fields of study.
