An ACT English score of 18 or higher or an SAT Reading score of 450 or above will place a student in EN 111 (Freshmen Comp I). Students who do not meet this threshold, or students who do not have a score on file are welcome to take the Accuplacer WritePlacer test in order to test into EN 111. A score of 5 (out of a possible 8) will allow a student to skip EN 099 (Basic English).
There are three options in taking Accuplacer WritePlacer test.
1. Remote (Proctoring fee varies based on location)
2. Virtually ($28 proctoring fee)

CLEP Eligibility Check Sheet
- The maximum number of hours earned through testing (CLEP, DSST, AP) and other non-traditional credits shall not exceed 45 semester hours.
- I am not taking a test for a course I failed in the classroom.
- I am not taking a test for a course for which I am currently registered.
- I am not taking a test for a course for which I had a W, WP, or WF in previous semesters.
- I am not taking a test for a course in which I have higher-level credit (except for foreign languages). This rule also doesn’t apply if you have credit for HI 202 but wish to take a CLEP for HI 201. The same goes for EC 252 if you wish to take a CLEP for EC 251.
- I understand the burden is on me to ensure I am eligible to receive credit for the test I am about to take. No refund will be given if it is determined after testing that I do not meet the criteria to receive credit. I will consult my UNA catalog to clarify the restrictions.
- I understand that any credit earned through testing will not affect my GPA nor add quality points to my transcript.
- (If you are re-taking a test) I understand that to re-take a failed test, I must wait at least 90 before re-testing.
Please note: To receive CLEP credit, you must be a matriculating UNDERGRADUATE student seeking a degree. Prospective students may test and send scores to UNA, but credit will not be applied until enrolled.
