FAQ

Is PFF a huge time commitment?

Although the workload for PFF may be greater than other 1-credit courses for which you might register, most students will find the demands to be reasonable. Requirements and activities of the program are distributed throughout the year and most require only a moderate amount of time. Activities completed through PFF help to prepare students for successful career pathways. The more effort you put into the program - the greater the likely returns.

Will PFF make a difference?

We anticipate that PFF Fellows at UNA will be more competitive when applying for doctoral programs. Additionally, PFF Fellows will ideally be more confident in their teaching skills, providing them with more time to focus on coursework and research in their respective graduate programs.

Nationally, students who have completed a PFF program have reported that participation provided them with an edge in applying for and securing competitive positions on the job market, as well as giving them a better understanding of the demands of their chosen career paths.

Can PFF count toward my degree?

Undergraduate students completing the PFF program are able to count the courses towards meeting the 120 credit hour requirement to graduate.

Graduate students may be able to count the courses towards their degree. Ask your graduate program coordinator for clarification.

This is my last year, can I still participate in PFF?

Absolutely! While it is ideal that students complete PFF prior to graduation so they can utilize some of what they've learned, the information covered in the program will be extremely helpful in understanding what will be expected of them as they transition to doctoral programs and life in academia.
