Travel to UNA

Destination Airport: Huntsville, Alabama

UNA provides free airport transportation service from the Huntsville International Airport (HSV) ONLY and only on specific dates prior to each semester/term. To sign up for this service, send the details of your flight (in English) at oiaservices@una.edu. You will be driven to Florence, Alabama, and brought to a local hotel. You are responsible to pay for one to three nights in the hotel before you can move into the university residences or apartments.

If you have difficulties during travel or an unforeseen situation, please contact Ms. Cala Flippo at cflippo@una.edu or through WeChat, Line or WhatsApp as soon as possible for further instructions.

  • The mandatory orientation dates at UNA are listed on the acceptance letter. Plan to arrive one to two days before orientation week begins.
  • Avoid arriving excessively early as many services are not available when the University is closed.

Here are some travels tips for arriving safely:

  • Avoid carrying large amounts of cash. Do NOT put cash in the baggage you plan to check.
  • Place your I-20/DS-2019, Passport (with visa), and UNA Acceptance Letter in your carry-on luggage. Do not place the documents in your checked baggage.
  • Have emergency contact information for UNA (Ms. Sarah Stevens) in your carry-on bag.
  • Have necessary funds available for food and travel expenses such as hotels or taxi fare.
  • Students arriving late at night should eat before the final destination, during an airport layover.
  • Keep track of your documents and personal items while traveling.
  • If you plan on arriving at an airport other than MSL or HSV as your final destination, you are responsible for arranging your own transportation to UNA.

Hand carry these documents with you at all times during travel. Do NOT pack them in your checked luggage. Documents including:

  • UNA Acceptance Letter
  • Passport with current visa
  • I-20 Form/DS-2019 with your signature
  • Proof of financial ability to pay for school (example: bank statement)
  • Receipt for payment of SEVIS I-901 fee
  • Imimmunization records (if available)
  • Any original documents (such as transcripts) that are required to complete your admission

Make copies of all important documents. Students may want to leave a set in their home country and pack another copy in their suitcase.
