Job Position Descriptions

Starts @ $8.50

  • The Patron Services Assistant is responsible for providing quality service to members. A person in this position will answer the telephone and take messages, check identification cards, monitor access to the gymnasium, assist members in receiving the most accurate and current information regarding all programs and performs work involving a wide range of general receptionist work. This position is also responsible for monitoring the access and use of the Fitness Center. A person in this position supervises the members on the proper use of cardiovascular machines, machine weights and free weights. Cleaning of the Fitness Center and machines contained therein and cleaning of the Member Services Desk and the lobby area are also the responsibility of a person in this position. A person in this position is also expected to communicate effectively with members and must maintain the safety of all members and guests during their visit.

  • Group Exercise Instructors are responsible for group instruction, including Step, Low Impact, Kick Boxing, Body Toning, Interval, Pilates to name a few. A person in this position is expected to communicate effectively with members and must maintain the safety of all members and guests during instruction time.

  • The Facility Monitor is responsible for the smooth operation of the Student Recreation Center, mainly in the early mornings, evenings and on weekends or in the absence of the professional staff members. A person in this position must be knowledgeable of all policies and procedures of the SRC and must be able to make decisions based on previous experience, general philosophy and the mission of the facility and the Recreational Sports and Fitness Program. This person will supervise student employees and will work directly with members and guests providing courteous, friendly and professional assistance. A person in this position is expected to communicate effectively with members and must maintain the safety of all members and guests during their visit.

  • No experience is necessary for this position, as training will be provided. A person in this position must attend all training clinics and weekly meetings. You must also have a sincere desire to learn and possess some knowledge of sporting activities. A person in this position is expected to communicate effectively with participants and must maintain the safety of all participants and spectators.

  • Outdoor Adventures Assistants should be enthusiastic about the outdoors and have an outgoing personality and positive attitude, along with good communication and organizational skills. They must also be willing to work evenings and weekends. Experience with outdoor activities such as, but not limited to backpacking, camping, cycling, hiking and mountain biking are preferred. A person in this position is expected to communicate effectively with members and must maintain the safety of all members and guests.

  • This position is responsible for developing, documenting, and implementing individual programs that match the needs and goals of the clients. This includes conducting fitness assessments and answering questions on exercise and techniques as well as demonstrations on fitness equipment.
