Derrick A. Mills '00

Derrick Mills graduated in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, with a minor in English. Derrick was a first-generation college student and attended UNA on a scholarship created by the late Senator Howell Heflin. After graduating from UNA, Derrick went on to receive law degree from the University of Alabama. Derrick is a partner in the law firm of Marsh, Rickard & Bryan in Birmingham, Alabama. His law practice involves all types of civil litigation.

Derrick is a former Alabama State Bar Commissioner, former Birmingham Bar Association Executive Committee member, Past President of the Magic City Bar Association, and he has been annually recognized as a Super Lawyer for the State of Alabama and the Mid-South.

Outside of his law practice, Derrick is a very active community volunteer, loves mentoring students, and serves on local charitable boards. Derrick is married to Tamesha Hannah Mills (a 1999 UNA graduate), and they have two children, Hannah and Cance.
