Bio

Dr. Sayeed Shohag joined the Department of Engineering and Technology at the University of North Alabama in the Fall of 2020. Dr. Shohag has received his Ph.D. from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University in 2019. Prior to joining the University of North Alabama, he worked as a lecturer at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville for one year. He is passionate about teaching and mentoring students. He likes to use innovative pedagogical techniques to facilitate student learning.

Dr. Shohag’s expertise is in the broad area of manufacturing particularly in developing sensors for structural health monitoring. His research work resulted in the invention of Mechanoluminescent Devices and Methods. He has authored and co-authored over twenty peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and conference papers and received 5 prestigious awards in various research competitions. His research interests are in sensors and devices, micro/nano-manufacturing, additive manufacturing, multifunctional materials and composites, structural health monitoring, data analytics, and machine learning.
