Amy Davison
Pre-School Class Teacher
I was born and raised in the mountains of North Carolina and graduated from Appalachian State University with a B.A. in English and a M.A. in Student Development. I received a Master of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. I have been a preschool teacher at the Kilby Child Development Center for eight years. My husband (who teaches Biology at the University of North Alabama) and I have one daughter. My family considers me a good cook and I enjoy cooking with the preschool class. We make the best breads! As a hobby, I collect children’s books. My favorite authors are Eric Carle and Margaret Wise Brown. I love to introduce favorite books to my preschoolers and always enjoy seeing their faces when they hear a wonderful children’s book for the first time!

Rita Liles
Pre-K Class Teacher
I have an Early Childhood Education Bachelors degree and an Elementary Education Masters degree from the University of North Alabama. I have enjoyed teaching small children at the Kilby Child Development Center for 12 years. I live with my husband and 2 boys in the woods, on a creek. I love the outdoors and sharing nature with my students. I really like flowers and have collected and planted many varieties at home and on our playground.
Mrs. Liles' vita is available here.
Melanie Kennedy
Auxiliary Teacher
I was raised in a military family and have lived in many interesting places including Alaska and Turkey. After briefly attending Oklahoma State University, I transferred to UNA and received a Child Development degree with a minor in Nutrition. As a born river rat, I enjoy boating, canoeing, fishing, and hiking especially around the Tennessee River area. I am also an avid music memorabilia collector, enjoy the theatrical arts, and athletic events. I am very hands on with my hobbies such as gardening and painting, and use this “get your hands dirty” outlook to foster children’s interest and creativity to enhance their learning experiences.
