FLORENCE, Ala. – The University of North Alabama will host the campus’s first ever math conference next week.  The 2014 Automated Deduction and Mathematics workshop will take place August 9 – 11, on the UNA campus.

Dr. Michael Kinyon will be the keynote speaker for the event which will bring experts from around the country to northwest Alabama.  On Monday, he’ll present a special introductory undergraduate session on automated reasoning, computerized proofs and theoretical mathematics.  This talk will be presented at a basic level with no prerequisites required.

UNA professor Dr. Mark Greer will host the event. His area of expertise relates to non-associative algebras, specifically loops and quasigroups. He has travelled internationally to Czech Republic to speak at the Loopsâ™ 2011 conference, as well as being an invited speaker at both Notre Dame and Iowa State universities.  Along with publications in top journals, Dr. Greer has started a weekly mathematics colloquium, collaborates with other faculty and has recently starting working with undergraduates on generalized Sudoku tables.
