New York Voices
Celebrating their 25th anniversary in music in 2013, the Grammy Award winning New York Voices are known for their close-knit voicings, inspired arrangements, and unparalleled vocal blend. With deep interests rooted in jazz, Brazilian, R & B, classical, and pop, their music mixes traditional sensibilities with more than a dash of the unexpected. See them in Norton Auditorium on Saturday, February 15, 2014, at 7:00 p.m.
"A Sweet Strangeness Thrills My Heart: The World of Sallie Independence Foster, 1861-1887"
Dolores Hydock's show (with music by Bobby Horton) is based on the diaries of Sallie Independence Foster, who lived in what is now Rogers Hall on the UNA campus. The show will begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, in Norton Auditorium.
UNA Front Porch Storytelling Festival
The very best professional storytellers (including the "dean of storytelling" Donald Davis) will entertain at the Fourth Annual University of North Alabama Front Porch Storytelling Festival on Friday and Saturday, May 16 and 17, 2014 in the Performance Center. Special events are planned to kick off the festival during that week, so check back for more information! (www.una.edu/storytelling)
