Meet Our Mathematics Fellow Mentors

Our Mathematics Fellow Mentors are successful veteran Mathematics Fellows who provide support to 3-4 current Math Fellows through:

  • Observing SI sessions and providing valuable feedback from the session 
  • Leading problem-solving and brainstorming group sessions with their assigned Fellows
  • Assisting with all communication between math Fellows and faculty supervisors
  • Providing any needed support for their assigned Fellows (course content, relationship with Faculty Mentor, new ideas for SI sessions, required documentation, etc.)

Hope Haygood
Hope is a Senior Mathematics major from Florence, Alabama. In addition to working as a Mathematics Fellow Mentor, Hope is a student worker for the Department of Mathematics. She enjoys spending time with her friends, family, hiking, and mountain biking. [^ Top]

Kolby Thrasher

Kolby is a Senior Mathematics major/Spanish and Computer Science minor from Phil Campbell, Alabama.  He enjoys reading classic literature, philosophy, and science, as well as watching old movies.  Kolby loves having interesting conversations and spending time with his dogs back home.    [^ Top]

Sam is a senior Mathematics /Secondary Education major from Moulton, Alabama, and a Lawrence County High School graduate.  He enjoys cooking, hiking, kayaking, and reading comics.   [^ Top]
