COMMENCEMENT SPEAKERS

Commencement ceremonies are held in Flowers Hall each fall, spring and summer semesters. The dates are published on the Academic Calendar for each semester. Fall and Spring ceremonies will contain three ceremonies; one on Friday night, 7:00p.m. and two on Saturday, 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Below are details regarding faculty lineup and ceremony processional and recessional instructions:

Friday, May 10th - TBD

7:00 PM

The President’s Platform party and faculty assemble by 6:45 p.m. in the north hallway (right) of Flowers Hall. Two lines are formed: the left line led by President Kitts and the faculty of the Anderson College of Nursing and Health Professions; the right line is led by Dr. Ross Alexander and the faculty of the College of Education and Human Sciences.

The Board of Trustees, President’s Executive Council, and officers of the Administration will be distributed evenly between the two lines immediately following the President or Provost.

Saturday, May 11th - TBD

10:00 AM

The President’s Platform party and faculty assemble by 9:45 a.m. in the north hallway (right) of Flowers Hall. Two lines are formed: the left line led by President Kitts and half of the faculty and students of the College of Arts & Sciences and the right line is led by Dr. Ross Alexander and consist of the other half of faculty and students of the College of Arts and Sciences.

The Board of Trustees, President’s Executive Council, and officers of the Administration will be distributed evenly between the two lines immediately following the President or Provost.

2:00 p.m. ceremony

The President’s Platform party and faculty assemble by 1:45 p.m. in the north hallway (right) of Flowers Hall. Two lines are formed: the left line led by President Kitts and half of the faculty and students of the College of Business and the right line is led by Dr. Ross Alexander and consist of the other half of faculty and students of the College of Business.

The Board of Trustees, President’s Executive Council, and officers of the Administration will be distributed evenly between the two lines immediately following the President or Provost.

The marshals will lead these lines through the appropriate doors onto the floor. The members of the President’s Platform Party will proceed directly to the stage. The marshals will direct faculty into the first four rows of chairs: right line into rows one and three and left line into rows two and four. Faculty should respect the solemnity and dignity of the commencement ceremony and serve as examples of proper decorum.

RECESSIONAL PROCESS

Following the Alma Mater, there will be a recessional led by the President’s Platform Party and Faculty.

As the recessional music begins, the President’s Platform Party will lead the recessional, followed by the faculty as directed by the marshals. Students do not participate in the recessional but will remain standing.
