What are you doing now?

I am currently working towards earning my Ph.D. in School Psychology from The University of Southern Mississippi. My assistantship has given me the opportunity to serve as a behavioral consultant for CDI Harrison County Head Start.

What advice would you give students who are interested in becoming UNA Psychology majors?

Putting it simply, UNA's Psychology Department has played an instrumental role in my academic success. I would not be in the position I am today without the awesome psychology faculty! Each professor challenged me to be the best student I could possibly be and in return this allowed me to develop a hard work ethic, which has been beneficial transitioning from an undergraduate student to a doctoral student. I was also given the opportunity to participate in multiple research opportunities and this allowed me to stand out during the graduate admissions process.

What advice would you give students who are interested in becoming UNA Psychology majors?

Do it! If you have an interest within the field of psychology definitely pursue it. One thing I've grown to appreciate is how diverse the field of psychology is, which in return delivers a multitude of career and educational opportunities. Another word of advice would be to get involved because you truly get out what you put in. Make sure you get involved in research, get to know your professors, and join the Psychology Club because these experiences are just as important as what you receive in the classroom! To reiterate, GET TO KNOW YOUR PROFESSORS!!!! Not only do they hold a wealth of knowledge, they are full of brilliant advice that will be valuable as you transition out of undergraduate studies.
