Kayla (Bales) Hockaday

Update: Kayla completed her master’s degree in 2017 and is serving as a psychometrist for Georgia Psychology and Counseling in Augusta, GA.

What are you doing now?

I am currently getting my Masters in Clinical Psychology at Augusta University in Augusta, GA.

How did UNA's Psychology program help you achieve what you have become?

The Psychology program helped me determine what field of psychology I wanted to pursue. Taking Abnormal with Dr. Bates made me realize I wanted to work with individuals with mental illness. The support I received from the other faculty also helped pave the way to my Master's program. The education I received also greatly prepared me for coursework at the graduate level.

What advice would you give students who are interested in becoming UNA Psychology majors?

Go for it! Psychology is everywhere and used for everything. Even if you don't pursue graduate school, you will have a strong basis for a number of different careers. Find your niche and let the faculty help you. They are awesome at providing support and information!
