Audition Application

All students who wish to pursue a major or minor in music must audition for acceptance into the music program. An audition application should be submitted to the Department of Music office no less than two weeks prior to the requested audition date.You will be notified within 5 business days via email that your application has been received.
Approximately 1-2 weeks prior to the audition date you will receive an email with a specific audition time. 

Students who will not be pursuing a major or minor in music do not need to submit this application but should contact ensemble director(s) to audition for participation in band, choruses, orchestra, or opera/musical theatre.

Audition Requirements

Woodwind, Brass, Strings: one prepared piece, or two brief works of contrasting style; scales/arpeggios; sightreading
Percussion: 1 short solo on each—concert snare drum, rudimental snare drum, timpani, and keyboard percussion; 3 chromatically adjacent major scales; keyboard sightreading
Piano: Two or more works of contrasting style; may also require scales/arpeggios; sightreading
Voice: Two contrasting, accompanied selections from the classical, musical theater, or jazz genres (one in Italian, German, or French encouraged but not required). **Repertoire Must Be Memorized**; sightreading

All voice auditions must use live piano accompaniment. No recorded accompaniments or a cappella auditions can be performed for vocalists. Recorded accompaniments are acceptable for instrumentalists only. A piano accompanist will be provided if a written request and a legible score are received at least 10 working days prior to the audition date.

Performance Awards are available for students with any academic majors
