Mission and Goals

Mission

Our curriculum is focused on preparing well-rounded design professionals with a global perspective. It is our mission to improve quality of life by concentrating on health, safety, and general welfare in the built environment. The interdisciplinary foundation of our undergraduate curriculum prepares students to work with a variety of professionals in the design of residential, non-residential, and institutional projects.

Goals

  • Prepare well-rounded design professionals with a global perspective.
  • To improve quality of life by concentrating on health, safety, and general welfare in the built environment.
  • To use an interdisciplinary foundation for our undergraduate curriculum.
  • To prepare students to work with a variety of professionals in the design of residential, non-residential, and institutional projects.
  • To successfully receive CIDA accreditation.
  • To maintain NASAD and NKBA accreditation.
  • To serve students at a regional institution with a diverse student population.
  • To implement a more selective admissions process and require a sophomore review for continuous in the interior design program.
  • To implement a recruitment program for potential students by visiting high schools with strong Interior Design programs.
  • To increase the number of students who take the NCDIQ to 50%.
  • To increase the diversity of faculty by recruiting professionals with a variety of experience and expertise as adjuncts/visiting professors.
  • To increase the quality and quantity of facility space.
