Special Accommodations

This information only pertains to special accommodation requests for apartments & residence halls.

A resident with disabilities, chronic medical conditions, or psychological conditions that inhibit a student's ability to live in certain apartments or residence halls may qualify for special accommodations. If residing in a university facility creates challenges due to any qualifying condition, documentation must be submitted.

Student should download and provide Verification of Medical/Physical Condition information sheet to their physician. An American Board Certified Physician or Psychologist must verify the student's condition. (The physician/psychologist cannot be a friend or relative of the student.)

Physician or student should mail documentation specified in the Verification of Medical/Physical Condition form to the attention of: Housing & Residence Life, Attn: HRL Special Accommodations, UNA Box 5037, Florence, AL 35632-0001.

Documentation will be reviewed by Housing & Residence Life, Health Services, and Disability Support Services (if applicable) within 2-3 weeks of receipt. Housing & Residence Life will provide official notifications and findings via the student's UNA Portal email. All documentation is confidential and shared with other university staff on a need-to-know basis only.

While there is no official deadline to submit requests for special accommodations, please note that the earlier we receive your documentation, the easier it is to accommodate your request. Our residence hall assignments process will begin June 20, 2017 and accommodation requests received by June 15, 2018 will be given priority. Our apartments assignment process is ongoing.
