Academic Advising

Dr. Koti is an academic advisor of Geography majors at the undergraduate level. While I am aware that academic advising is an ongoing process, I expect Geography majors to pay attention to the spring and fall designated departmental advisement times and make appointments to be advised.

My academic advising philosophy is premised on the notion that advising is more than just scheduling classes. At academic advising sessions no matter how brief, we discuss career choices, degree completion status, academic progress, future plans, and so on. As such, I expect students who have signed up to be advised by me to come prepared with the following:

  • Plan for the following semester with course selections
  • Matriculation plan for their declared option- if Junior or higher
  • Degree evaluation/audit - if Junior or higher

If I am not in the office, please see Ms. Pam Bishop, Geography Administrative Assistant, who will be glad to help you. She can also be reached at: 256-765-4246 or by email at:
