College of Nursing Endowed Scholarships

Lauderdale County Medical Auxiliary Scholarship

Recipients shall be second semester Junior or Senior nursing student from Lauderdale County. Cumulative GPA at least 3.0.

Kelly Houser Bigbee Endowed Scholarship

Student to be full time Nursing undergraduate student pursuing a B.S.N degree with at least a B average in high school.

Northwest Alabama Cancer Center Scholarship

Recipients shall be majoring in Nursing.

Heart Health Center Endowment

Recipients shall be full time nursing student. Preference to nursing students pursuing careers in cardiac nursing.

Sarah Edmundson Endowed Nursing Scholarship

Recipients shall be full time students enrolled in College of Nursing. One year may reapply.

Pilot Club of Florence, Alabama, Endowed Scholarship

Recipients shall be full time students starting 3rd year majoring in nursing from Colbert and Lauderdale counties.

Jessie Barnes Edwards Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Full time undergraduate students enrolled in the College of Nursing. Preference given to applicants do not qualify for assistance based on scholastic merit, but who show promise. Selected by President and shall include the Dean of the College of Nursing. Notified containing copy of Preamble. One year only, may reapply.

Killian Endowment for Long-Term Care

Established to support professional interest in long-term nursing care education. Recipient will be determined by the Dean of Nursing and Allied Health and with the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Provost. Additional funds from the College of Nursing and Allied Health budget line within the University may be used to supplement this award at the discretion of the Dean and Vice President.

Killian Opportunity Scholarship

Recipients selected by committee appointed by Dean of the College of Nursing and Allied Health coordinated with the OSFS. Priority shall be given to students that would enhance the diversity of the student population of The College of Nursing and Allied Health. Notified by award letter with copy of Preamble.

Julia G. Doss Endowed Scholarship

Scholarships shall be awarded to African-American nursing students who exhibit a strong commitment to the practice of nursing and the care of diverse populations. Recipients of the scholarship(s) must be admitted to the upper division traditional (non-accelerated) nursing program with at least a 2.50 GPA (or equivalent). These scholarships are for one academic year (or two semesters) and will be automatically renewable for the second semester if the recipient maintains an overall GPA of at least 2.50. The scholarship(s) may be renewable for subsequent years but recipients must reapply. The College of Nursing Scholarship Committee (which will include the Project OPEN Coordinator) in consultation with the Office of Student Financial Services and the Office of Diversity and Institutional Equity, will select the recipient(s) of the scholarship(s). Matched by the University through the Lion Match Program

Alberta Doss Gore Endowed Scholarship

Awarded to nursing students who exhibit a strong commitment to the practice of nursing and the care of diverse populations. Carter Ashton Wooden Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Sophomore pre-nursing major or junior or senior nursing major. Preference to student with professionally confirmed learning disability, such as dyslexia or dyscalculia with GPA of at least 2.5. Documentation required. If no disability then junior or senior nursing student with 3.0 GPA.

Earl Edwin Carter Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Sophomore pre-nursing major or junior or senior nursing major. Preference to students with a professionally confirmed learning disability, such as dyslexia or dyscalculia, and cumulative GPA of at least 2.5. Documentation of disability is required. If none awarded to junior or senior nursing student with a 3.0 cumulative. Recipients chosen by the College of Nursing and Allied Health scholarship committee.

Cathy Summerford Malone Endowed Scholarship

The recipient may be an incoming freshman with at least a 4.0 GPA from an accredited high school.  The recipient may be a transfer student with at least a 3.8 GPA if transferring from a community college or another university.  The recipient may be a Registered Nurse who is enrolling in the Online Nursing Program with at least a 3.7 GPA.  Amount not to be split between two or more recipients, but that one student receive the scholarship award.

Sheffield Rotary Endowment

Recipients shall be a junior or senior in the Nursing program with 3.0 GPA.

Humana Hospital Florence-Shoals UNA Alumni Endowed Scholarship

Recipients shall be a junior or senior in the Nursing program with 3.0 GPA.
