Praxis I Core Academic Skills for Educators

The Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators assessments are required for admissions to TEP (undergraduate students) and GTEP (Alternative A graduate students).

  • Administered through Educational Testing Services (ETS), the Praxis I is a computer-based assessment offered at approved sites (including UNA’s Testing Center) throughout the year.
  • Go to for information regarding test registration and preparation.
  • Referred to as the Praxis I Core (Exam Code 5751), this assessment consists of three subtests (Reading, Writing, and Mathematics).
  • Score reports must be sent to UNA (Code 1735) and to the Alabama State Department of Education (Code 7020) directly from ETS.

Praxis II (subject area) Exam

  • Educator Preparation candidates must pass all PRAXIS II exams required for their area of certification before student internship.
  • To register for a PRAXIS II exam, go to or call Praxis Series Customer Service: 1-800-772-9476. Study material is available on the ETS website.
    • Please make sure you register using the exact name on your Driver's License.
  • PRAXIS tests are delivered ON UNA's campus multiple times each semester. For information on upcoming testing dates you may visit University Testing Services, or contact Ms. Kenda Rusevlyan at 256-765-4722.

Educator Preparation candidates are responsible for having exam score reports sent to UNA and the ALSDE. If you do not request a score report for these recipients, it will cost you an additional $40 fee with ETS to send at a later date. Request that your score report be sent to UNA 1735 and AL State Department 7020.
