Alumni Focus Bill Lyons

UNA College of Business Bill LyonsBill Lyons graduated from UNA with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting in 1988, in addition to a business degree earned from Freed-Hardeman University. Since then, he has gained over twenty five years’ experience in finance, accounting and management. He served as Vice President and CFO of a large, private manufacturing company and has held a senior financial position with a Fortune 100 company.

Bill founded Lyons HR in 1995 and currently serves as the company’s Chairman. He has been a trusted business advisor and has served on the boards of several private companies, and is presently a member of National Association of Professional Employer Organizations (NAPEO), the American Staffing Association, and serves on the board of directors of the Shoals Economic Development Authority. Bill was appointed to the Business Council of Alabama board of directors for 2012, and has recently been appointed to the UNA Foundation Board. 

Bill’s enthusiasm for supporting his alma mater echoes that of the Foundation. “Our interest in the school is to provide good, strong academics, and to see that it is properly funded by the community,” he said. “We want to see the university turn out quality students. 

The company has recently announced their corporate headquarters will move into the Sun Trust building on North Court Street in downtown Florence this May.
