Summer Elise Akers is a senior at the University of North Alabama pursuing a B.A. in Communication Arts with an emphasis in Theatre. She has been performing in some aspect as long as she can remember, starting with her roots in music and vocal performance and then moving into theatre in high school. Her most recent theatre experience was portraying The Shepherd in Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale at Tianjin Foreign Studies University in China. Other theatre credits include Becky in Becky’s New Car, Letta in Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman, The Mother in Pirandello’s Six Characters in Search of an Author, Kitty in Charley’s Aunt, and understudy to Eunice in last summer’s production of A Streetcar Named Desire. Summer has also had the opportunity to serve as costume designer for five productions at the University of North Alabama. She currently serves as Vice President of UNA’s chapter of Alpha Psi Omega, the honorary theatre fraternity. Summer would like to thank Randal Myler for this opportunity, and her professors and family for continuing to encourage and support her as an actress and an individual.
