Mathematics Learning Center FAQs

Mathematics Learning Center FAQs

When is the Mathematics Learning Center open?

Currently individual consultations are available by appointments made through WCOnline and are held in the Collier Library Basement. Freshman-only FOCUS Sessions are held in Rivers Hall on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 7-10 p.m.

When should I come in?

We don't have walk-ins at this time, so you should register with WCOnline to make an appointment. Mathematics is a skill like any other and must be practiced, therefore we recommend that you do NOT wait until the last minute to schedule an appointment. Take advantage of this free service that can be an invaluable part of your UNA experience.

What do I need to bring with me when I come?

You should come prepared with the same items you need for your mathematics class: pencil, paper, notes from class, textbook, calculator, and login information for any online assignments.

Do I have to have an appointment? Tutoring Session

You  should make an appointment for individual consultations and we also recommend you make an appointment for FOCUS Sessions. As a freshman, you may join a FOCUS Session on Tuesday or Thursday nights from 7-10 p.m. without an appointment, but, if you make an appointment, you are guaranteed that your math course will be a part of the session.

How much does it cost?

All Mathematics Learning Center services are free to currently enrolled students of UNA.

Who should I ask for when I go to the Mathematics Learning Center?

Math tutoring session

When you make an appointment with the MLC, you will be able to choose the consultant who is available during the best time for you. You will meet your individual consultant in the Collier Library Basement or meet the FOCUS Session consultant in Rivers Hall. You can find out more about the consultants on the MLC Staff page.

How will my professor know that I visited the Mathematics Learning Center?

When you have completed your session with your consultant, a report will be sent electronically to your professor.

What services are provided through the Mathematics Learning Center?

Individual peer consultations and FOCUS Sessions are available for all Mathematics courses offered at UNA.
