Every Picture Tells a Story: Norman Rockwell as Storyteller
Dolores Hydock
George S. Lindsey Theatre, UNA Campus
Norman Rockwell didn't just paint pictures, his pictures told stories. We'll take a behind-the-scenes look at how Rockwell created his one-frame stories, layer by layer: getting the idea, populating the story, selecting the essential details, finding the action that sets the story in motion, and creating the finished picture. Then we'll explore how Rockwell's mastery in telling stories with paint can help us paint stories with words.
Wednesday, May 15, 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., 3 CEUs
Using Storytelling for Adults:
Storytelling Anywhere for Anyone
Bill Huddleston
Florence Lauderdale Public Library, 350 North Wood Avenue, Florence
Adults and older students also engage in storytelling. Too often, in organizational, secondary, and higher education settings the use of stories only flows from the teacher to the student. This workshop explores the methods for converting classrooms and business settings into safe storytelling spaces. The workshop will show you how to get people to share even difficult stories and deepen your participants’ learning on any topic.
