University Honors Program
Students in the Program receive an Honors scholarship based on class standing.
Renewal of the scholarship is contingent each semester on academic eligibility and participation in Program activities.
Honors Program scholarships are stackable with other University and non-University scholarships and financial aid.
Students in the first and second year of the Program receive a renewable scholarship of at least $300 per semester.
Students in the third and fourth year of the Program receive a renewable scholarship of at least $600 a semester.
To be considered for an Honors Program Housing Scholarship, a student must be unconditionally admitted to the University on or before February 1 and be accepted by the Honors Program. The deadline for Honors Program applications is February 1. Successful applicants for the Housing awards typically possess at least a 32 ACT or 2130 SAT, a 3.75 GPA or higher, and an exceptional record of achievement, leadership, and service. Housing scholarships are awarded on a space and funds available basis. These scholarships are awarded competitively. Award levels may vary based on funding and do not always include the full cost of a room.
The Delores and Weldon Cole Honors Scholarships
Made possible by a generous gift from Delores and Weldon Cole (Class of 1960), these scholarships are available to current and prospective Honors Program students who demonstrate the highest levels of achievement. Students need only apply to the Honors Program to be considered for these awards.
The Virginia Bayless O'Connell Honors Scholarships
Named for Class of 1932 UNA alumna Virginia Bayless O'Connell, O'Connell Scholars are chosen from Honors Program applicants who demonstrate the highest levels of achievement. Students need only apply to the Honors Program to be considered for these awards.
Out of State Tuition Scholarships
The Honors Program sometimes awards scholarships to fund the out of state portion of tuition. These scholarships are competitively awarded. All out of state students who reside beyond the in state tuition areas are automatically considered for this award. Awards are made contingent upon available funds.
Study Abroad Scholarships
The Honors Program offers financial assistance to Honors students who study abroad. Please contact the Director for more details.
