ESOL TESOL Certificate

The TESOL Certificate is designed for candidates who wish to have training in working with English language learners but who do not wish to pursue the Master of Arts in Education degree. It includes the coursework from the first year of the International ESOL Master's degree option.

Prerequisites

1. Bachelor's degree in any field

ED 608 Advanced Topics in ESOL 3
ED 610 Multicultural and Diversity Issues of Teaching English Language Learners 3
EN 541 History of the English Language* 0-3
EN 542 Survey of Grammar* 0-3
EN 641 English Linguistics 3
ED 620 Practicum in ESOL (in an adult ELL or advisor-approved P-12 setting) 3
*If ED 515, EN 541, or EN 542 were completed at the undergraduate level (ED 415, EN 441, EN 442), the course may not be completed at the graduate level for credit in the post baccalaureate certificate program. The TESOL advisor may recommend additional choices for candidates who have completed more than two of the required courses at the undergraduate level.
