To be considered for a National Merit® or National Achievement® Scholarship, a student must apply for admission to the University on or before December 3, 2012 and submit a letter documenting his or her selection by one of these national organizations.

Presidential Scholarships

Minimum 3.00 GPA on High School Core Curriculum

Students with an ACT score of 30 or above and applying by December 3, 2012 may be considered for a Presidential Scholarship. The amount of the top scholarship offer may pay up to the full tuition amount (up to 16 hours per semester) but will be no less than $7,000. The number of Presidential Scholarship offers may be limited in number. The student may be required to write an essay or sit for an interview to be considered for the top award. All students with an ACT of 30 and above who apply to the University before December 3, 2012 will receive an offer of a Presidential Scholarship, even though all offers may not be of the same amount.

To be considered for a Presidential Scholarship, a student must apply for admission to the University on or before December 3, 2012. With all academic credentials (high school transcript and ACT/SAT scores) being on record, the student will automatically be considered.

Eligibility for a "Room" scholarship requires acceptance into the UNA Honors Program. All applicants are reviewed individually for admission and scholarships. Successful applicants for Housing Scholarships typically possess at least a 32 ACT, a 3.75 core GPA or higher, and an exceptional record of achievement, leadership, and service.

Academic Scholarships*

To be considered for an Academic Scholarship, a student must apply for admission to the University on or before December 3, 2012. With all academic credentials (high school transcript and ACT/SAT scores) being on record, the student will automatically be considered.

Valedictorian & Salutatorian Scholarships*

To be considered for a Valedictorian or Salutatorian Scholarship, a student must apply for admission to the University on or before December 3, 2012. The appropriate high school official must submit a letter documenting the student’s rank as first or second in the graduating class. With all academic credentials (high school transcript and ACT/SAT scores) being on record, the student will automatically be considered.

Leadership Scholarships*

These competitive scholarships are awarded to students who, based upon a strong record of leadership and volunteerism in high school, have demonstrated the potential to be campus leaders at UNA. Eligible students must apply for admission to the University on or before December 3, 2012, and submit a detailed résumé of allactivities performed during his or her 9-12th grade years. All documentation must be received on or before December 3, 2012. Sample résumés are available upon request.

Presidential Mentors Academy (PMA)

Must be an Alabama resident (or reside in one of the eleven Mississippi and Tennessee counties considered by UNA to be "in-state")

UNA supports opportunities for students whose racial group is underrepresented within its student body. In this spirit, the PMA provides learning experiences for incoming minority freshmen. The program combines an emphasis on academic success with financial assistance and on-campus work opportunities for students who qualify for participation. The successful candidate must possess both leadership potential and the potential to succeed in a higher education environment. Eligible students must apply for admission to the University, and must submit both a résumé of high school activities and a letter of recommendation from a high school principal, counselor, or teacher on or before December 3, 2012. Interviews may be required.

Charles N. Martin, Jr., Scholarship

This scholarship is for students who attend high schools in Colbert, Lauderdale, Franklin, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Cullman, Jackson, Marion, Morgan, Walker, or Winston counties in Alabama; Alcorn, Benton, Itawamba, Marshall, Prentiss or Tishomingo counties in Mississippi; or Giles, Hardin, Lawrence, McNairy, or Wayne counties in Tennessee. In order to apply, a student must apply for admission to the University and have a letter of recommendation sent from his or her guidance counselor stating that he or she is applying for the Charles N. Martin, Jr. Scholarship and that there is a financial need. All scholarship documentation and admission materials are due on or before December 3, 2012.
